About Me
I am an artist and instructor working in drawing and painting. My practice is grounded in both technical foundation and personal expression, and my teaching focuses on helping students build skills in a clear, supportive way. I emphasize observation, structure, and process, while allowing space for individual exploration.
I have come to see that learning to draw and paint is not only about technique, but also about developing patience, attention, and confidence. My approach is focused, approachable, and grounded in strong fundamentals.
I work with students at a range of levels, from beginners to more experienced artists, and aim to make the learning process accessible and direct without being overwhelming.
I hold an MFA in Visual Art from Vermont College of Fine Arts and a BFA from Parsons School of Design. My work has been exhibited in the United States and internationally, including Paris and London.
My Art
My work examines the female form and animal imagery through abstraction, using shape, line, and composition to investigate structure and variation. I often work in series, allowing each piece to build on the previous through shifts in form, scale, and mark making.
Working primarily in watercolor and mixed media, I engage with materials that introduce elements of unpredictability. This requires a balance between control and responsiveness, where process plays a central role in the development of the work.
The practice is focused on the relationship between intention and chance, exploring how layered marks and repeated forms can generate visual complexity and continuity across a body of work.
